In the year in which the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) turns 80, its efforts and attentions turn to a fundamental mission: to reflect on the evolution of the preservation policy and the management of the Cultural Patrimony. Thus, focusing on the next 80 years, Iphan promotes the International Seminar The Future of Heritage.

The program includes speakers from Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, China, Argentina and Brazil. The debates are divided into four distinct themes, considered fundamental for the future of patrimonial policies: architectural culture, anthropological culture, archaeological culture and urbanistic and documentary culture.

The event is part of an extensive program that takes place throughout the year, within the anniversary celebrations of the institution.

It is recalled that, last March, a delegation from IPHAN, Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage of Brazil, was in Portugal.

The mission Portugal '2017 had as its objective the "deepening of knowledge of Portuguese cases that present themselves as Good Practices of management, valuation and promotion of patrimonial sites, especially in the field of Tourism, conciliating the socioeconomic development to the preservation activities".

This visit followed the participation of António Ponte, Regional Director of Culture of the North, last December, at the International Seminar on Good Practices in Landscape Management, which took place in Brazil.
